Accessing Bruce Trail through a free parking lot on Dunbly road. There’s enough room for about 5 cars. Hockley Valley Provincial Park is maintained by Ontario Parks, and features over 5 km of Bruce trail and over 6 km of side trails. Honeysuckle berries off the side of Bruce Trail. View from Bruce Trail off the path. View of a farm adjacent to Bruce Trail entrance. Horses! Song sparrow in the tree. The park borders the Niagara Escarpment, and is part of the Orangeville Moraine. A few times I came across these ladders cutting across the trail, I assume to discourage bikes and horses. The trail is slightly more challenging due to the varying level of terrain with lots of ascents and descents. Bark of red pine. A large sugar maple tree. A great spangled fritilliary butterfly on a wild teasel. Windy day. Southern view of Hockley Valley resort from the park. Overlooking road 3rd Line EHS to the northeast.

Lovely captures along the trail. Hockley Valley is one of my favourite spots to hike. The scenery is beautiful, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing colour, and it’s a great workout with all those hills.

Thank you so much for your comment. I’m looking forward to returning in the autumn season. I enjoyed your post on Hockley Valley (https://wanderingcanadians.com/hockley-valley-provincial-nature-reserve/) and definitely want to return to be able to find the abandoned car!

Aww thanks, you are too kind. We didn’t do much hiking in the fall last year, so I’m hoping to make up for it this year. Hockley Valley is definitely on the list. Mono Cliffs is another park that’s nearby that is particularly lovely in the fall too.
